Dear Parents of LWY Young Men and Women,

2010 Mission Trip Update

To better assist you and to give you further information about the 2010 Mission Trip, the due date for both forms and monies has been changed to Wednesday, January 27, 2010.

A little over a week ago, Andrew and I had a very fruitful meeting with Gary Knap. Gary is the Sr. Pastor of Eastgate Presbyterian Church (EPC). This is the church that we will be working with on our 2010 Mission Trip. Our three main goals are to glorify God, share the Gospel and bless EPC’s members through physical acts of service. How do we plan to meet these goals? First, we plan to share the Gospel through the community wide ice cream social and concert, which will be held on Friday and promoted weeks prior, as well as the Sunday outreach service held on the beach. Secondly, there are multiple work projects that we plan to do such as clearing some wooded land behind the church (which will take up most of our work time), helping with some landscaping needs in the front of their church and helping with various projects that EPC’s elderly members have.

Gary has graciously opened up their church for us to stay and eat at. They have plenty of space to accommodate for our sleeping arrangements and a kitchen that will provide space for us to cook in. To meet our transportation needs for the week, we have rented a 56 passenger bus (including a professional driver who will be staying at a nearby hotel). The bus will also provide ample luggage space for all our needs. Below is a tentative schedule of the week. This schedule is subject to change as we speak further with Gary.

8:30 a.m. Sunday service on the beach (led by the LWY)

9:45 a.m. Sunday School at EPC

11:00 a.m. Regular service at EPC

12:30 p.m. Lunch

 6:30 p.m. Evening Service (led by the LWY)

6:00 p.m. Dinner, Games, and Fellowship at Gary’s Home

Noon: Lunch

6:30 – 9:00 p.m. Youth Focus, Part 1 (this will be a time like our regular Wednesday night youth meetings, but joined with their youth in order to reach out to them.)

8:00 a.m. Set up and prepare for a community wide outreach and concert

6:00 p.m. Ice cream social, Concert for the Community (Gary will also give a short Gospel message and we will be doing something similar to what we have done at the Vine.)

The 2010 Mission Trip forms are due together with a NON-REFUNDABLE $25 deposit fee. Forms are available on the table in the narthex on Sunday mornings. I can also email you one, just request if you need one.
