Living Word Youth
LWY meets each Wednesday to study God's Word, to pray and to encourage one another in the faith. Living Word Youth is for youth grades 7-12. Group members serve, work on projects and enjoy fun outings throughout the year.
Living Word Youth meet at Mario and Lisa Dominguez' house each Wednesday night at 6:15 p.m. unless a special event is planned elsewhere.

Count Down WR '08: Day 2
The men serving the ladies a hearty breakfast. They even sang the ladies a song!

Count Down WR '08: Day 3!
It is a rare time when the wind currents, along with the angle of inclination of the ramp, combined with the perfect pressure of a deflated tube and the accelleration of gravity and drag difference between boy and tube make for such a perfect [storm] moment. If that's not enough, it's amazing that these many factors all converged in 1/30th of a second for this photo. The equidistance between the human and the inflatable is incomprehensible. Such is the exhuberance of the Winter Retreat. Shown in the photo is Josiah Walls at the Winter Retreat of 2005. Do you think he landed the jump? I have no idea!
Count Down WR '08: Day 4
Will our new guest speaker for this year have to endure this LWY tradition also? Hmmm...

Of course when you bring that much luggage, you not only have to load it, you also have to unload it. Unloading the vehicles is a youth wide event, and as you can see, this walking stack of pillows is one case of a youth helping unload. Thankfully the walking stack of pillows did not slip and fall!
Can you guess who it is?

Count Down WR '08: Day 9
I remember small, groups of the LWY running around the mall trying to be the first to complete the weird and wacky scavenger hunt. Some of the items included doing the chicken dance, catching someone picking their nose, finding someone standing on their head, getting a photo of a couple kissing, and did I mention trying to scrounge up free food? It was a rather exhaustive list to complete. It was also pretty funny seeing all the wacky photos that came back at the end of the hunt!
...good job guys on the chicken dance!

Count Down WR '08: Day 13
I remember from the 2007 Winter Retreat that the youth leaders had one very vital item. They had this item because they were lacking another vital item...sleep. So to compensate, a green liquid, commonly known as caffeinated sugar water, or if you like Mountain Dew, was brought. It was hid away, lest some youth, also lacking in sleep, would snatch away the "green gold".
I came up with this equation as a result:
Ryan + little sleep + Mountain Dew = Extra spark in eye and over valued green liquid.

Preparation for the 2008 LWY Winter Retreat
To get us in the spirit for the 2008 Winter Retreat, I will post one, premium selected 2007 Winter Retreat photo a day, for the two weeks leading up to our 2008 Winter Retreat. Also, there will be a short "memory" from the 2007 Winter Retreat posted with each photo.
Living Word Youth, will you help by sending me some of your favorite, funny photos, and or a short memory from the 2007 Winter Retreat? Please e-mail your photos and short memories to turner.hunter@gmail.com Thanks!

2008 Winter Retreat Riddle?
So far, I think only one person has figured out the right answer to the 2008 Winter Retreat Riddle...can anyone else?
Here it is:
Adam, God made out of dust,
But thought it best to make me first,
So I was made before now,
To answer God's most holy plan,
A living being I became,
And Adam gave to me my name,
I from his presence then withdrew,
And more of Adam I never knew.
I did my Maker's law obey,
Nor never went from it astray,
Thousands of miles I go in fear,
But seldom on earth appear,
For purpose wise which God did see,
He put a living soul in me,
A soul from me God did claim,
And took from me the soul had fled,
I was the same as when first made,
And without hands or feet or soul,
I travel on from pole to pole,
I labor hard by day, by night,
To fallen man I give great light,
Thousands of people, young and old,
Will by my death great light behold,
No right or wrong can I conceive,
The Scripture I cannot believe,
Although my name therein is found,
They are to me an empty sound,
No fear of death doth trouble me,
Real happiness I'll never see,
To Heaven I shall never go, or to Hell below.
Now when these lines you slowly read
Go search your Bible with all speed,
For that my name is written there,
I do honestly to you declare,
"The answer is ONE word."
