Guadalajara Mission Project

Mark 16:15 "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation."

Background: Santa Ana community in Guadalajara, MX

The Santa Ana community is very old - around 500 years. The people have had many bad influences from their ancestors, and it is a community labeled with a bad reputation filled with vices such as alcoholism and drugs. The families live in poverty. The father usually works as a mason, and the mother as a maid of different homes in a wealthy community nearby. The children are often left alone, and the oldest (in many cases as young as 8 years old) takes care of the others. About 80% of the population are Roman Catholic. There are many festivals in Santa Ana; the people from the Roman church celebrate with huge parties, inviting everyone in the community to participate. They dance around the streets and dress up with incredible outfits (demon looking) and people run away from them. At the end of the week, they close with an even bigger party. Of course, in each party they give away an enormous quantity of alcoholic beverages. Prayer Requests for Guadalajara

  • Pray that God would heal wounded relationships and marriages that exist in the church.
  • Pray that the Bible studies might lead to establish new churches in Camichines and Arenales.
  • Pray for two men, Ramon and Florentino to come to know the Lord. They are married to Christian women.
  • Pray for Claudia, Pastor Gonzalo's daughter, to have good health and be strengthened by God as she continues to minister to the sick and dying children in the hospital every Tuesday.
  • Pray that God is glorified through the work He has set before the long term missionary teams in Guadalajara.
  • Pray that God would call more teachers to the school in Santa Ana and Bugambilias.
  • Pray that God continues to work in the lives of the adults and children he brought to the medical clinics and the vacation bible schools.
  • Pray that God would open the ears and hearts of the lost in Guadalajara and reveal to them their wickedness and sin and their need for Jesus Christ.
  • Pray that God provides wisdom to Gonzalo Garcia as he leads the church in Santa Ana.
  • Pray that God provides wisdom to Larry Trotter as he leads the church in Bugambilias.
  • Pray that God provides wisdom to Jon Cummings as he leads the community center, Eirene, in Santa Ana.
  • Pray that God grants the necessary funding for the ministry and construction in Santa Ana, Camichines, Arenales, and Bugambilias.
  • Praise God for calling and establishing elders and deaconsin the church in Bugambilias.
  • Pray that God calls men to lead as elders in the church in Santa Ana.
