Email from Miriam

Dear Family and Friends, September 19, 2006

It is almost 8 a.m. and I am still at home because school is canceled for the day. As some of you have heard via the news, there has been a military coup in Bangkok while Prime Minister Thaksin is in New York for a meeting with the U.N. All arms of the military are cooperating at the present. We understand that the coup is endorsed by the king. Because of the coup all government agencies are closed today which includes the schools. (I was praying for time for lesson plans.)

My request of you is for prayer that this remains a bloodless coup, that God gives the king good health and wisdom during this time of stress, (At age 80 he has heart problems.) and the new government continues to care for the Thai people and allow the spread of the Gospel. Pray the church in Thailand will work together in unity with each other and union with God. Pray that the city of Chiang Mai will be" a light on the hill."

My mother continues to falter. My sister, Marilyn, continues to care for her in the evening and at night. My sister, Elaine, is there now for the day. My brother, Carl, and his wife will return again when my sister must leave for medical care for her shoulder.

Pray that I should know if I should return during October break at the end of the first quarter on October 13th.

In faith with confidence, "Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need."Hebrews 4:16

In His Service,
Miriam
