Announcements from February 3 Bulletin

Evening Service Tonight
The evening service tonight will meet in the SDA Sanctuary. We will hear Jon Cummings speak on his ministry in Gaudalajara and preach the Word. An offering will be taken up for the Cummings during the service. Please prayerfully consider making a donation.

Couples Night Out: Saturday, Feb. 9
All adult couples are invited to the Christ The Word annual Couples Night Out, February 9, 2008. From 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. we will be enjoying finger foods and desserts along with fun and fellowship at the home of Rob Fredrick: 7161 Hidden Valley Drive, Lambertville, MI. W.O.W. Event—Before the Throne: Cultivating a Vibrant Prayer Life
Date: Saturday February 23rd

Time: 9:00 am until noon ( a light lunch will be provided)
Topic: A believer’s prayer life
Be sure and receive your booklet on prayer today so that you can prepare your heart through the scriptures to hear from the Lord.

After-School Bible Club Prayer and Collection
Please remember to pray for our after-school Bible clubs each Thursday morning. The Lord has blessed these groups, and we look forward to more blessing. Also, please support the clubs by bringing juice boxes. Please place them in the box in the Narthex.

Homeschool Group Announcements
There will be a homeschool K-12 field trip on Tuesday, Feb. 5 to the “Swamp to Settlement” presentation at the W. W. Knight Center in Perrysburg. Please meet in the parking lot at 9:45 and RSVP to Cheryl Bayly.

Choir Continuing
Our Advent choir sounded excellent and we would like to keep the choir together. We have starting regular rehearsals after the morning service. Don & Adam White will be leading the choir; all adults and senior high students are invited to sing. For more information please contact Don or Adam White.

Instrumental Ensemble Rehearsals
Our instrumental ensemble sounded great too! We are excited to continue regular rehearsals of the ensemble. All are invited to participate. Please see Bill Van Wormer for more information about rehearsal times and music. Rehearsals will begin soon.

LWY Meeting at Nursing Homes: Wed.6th
The LWY will be visiting nursing homes this coming Wednesday, February 6th. The nursing homes are Heartland of Waterville, 8885 Browning Dr in Waterville; Harborside of Sylvania at 5767 Whiteford Rd in Sylvania; and Sunset Village at 9640 Sylvania-Metamora Rd in Sylvania. Everyone should plan on arriving by 7 p.m. and being picked-up by 8:15 pm. If you are unsure which location your youth are assigned to, please contact Hunter Turner at 419-329-1100.

Britta DeNyse Simpson...

Kevin and Erika welcomed Britta DeNyse yesterday night at around 10 p.m. She weighed in at 9 pounds, 21.75 inches long.

Double Baby Shower for Tai French & Elisa Picken

We’ve rescheduled Tai French’s baby shower, happily interrupted by Amelia, and doubled it up with Elisa Picken’s. The event will take place Saturday, February 2nd at 10:00 am, at Lisa Dominguez’s home, 9035 Salisbury Rd. Monclova, OH. Tai & Elisa are registered at Baby’s R Us.

We encourage the women of Christ the Word to attend and get to know these new moms, giving them our love and support.

Announcements from January 27 Bulletin

Mission Week Activities
The mission committee is excited to welcome Jon & Susanna Cummings and their three children to Christ the Word Tuesday, January 29 through Monday, February 4 as our special guest for our annual missions week. They currently serve as missionaries in Guadalajara, Mexico.
• Wednesday: CTW skate night at the Swanton Colliseum (6:30 p.m.)
• Friday: Meet-if-you-can lunch at Tony Packo’s-Front Street (11:30 a.m.)
• Saturday: “Hang Out with the Cummings Family” (open house style) at the Holder Home (3-5 p.m.)
Throughout the week Jon, Susanna and family will be at various Pathways, Bible Studies and homes - be sure to get to know this wonderful family.

Skate Night: Jan. 30
CTW’s annual skate night is scheduled for Wednesday, January 30 from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. at the Swanton Coliseum . Admission is free. You can bring your own roller blades or skates, or if you need to rent skates there is a $2.50 fee. Swanton Coliseum is located at 12725 Airport Hwy in Swanton OH 43558. Hope to see you there!

Toledo Christian Open House
All are welcome to attend an Open House at Toledo Christian School from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, February 2. Sheets with more information are located on the welcome center table in the narthex.

Cultivating a Vibrant prayer life will take place on Saturday February 23rd at Barb Oostra’s home at 9 am in the morning. All women college age and above are invited to attend. Michelle Vrlenich and Diane Walls will be looking in depth on the subject of prayer and it place and purpose in a believer’s life. Next Sunday we will be passing out a booklet on prayer for you to work through as you prepare for the event.

William James Picken

Bill and Elisa Picken are very happy to announce the birth of William James. He was born on Wednesday around 5 p.m. and weighed in at a wholesome 9 pounds 8 ounces. Praise God for this good gift to the Pickens and our congregation.

Sylvia Guthrie Visitation and Funeral

Visitation and funeral service for our dear sister Sylvia Guthrie, now in the presence of her Savior, will take place at Reeb Funeral Home in Sylvania (5712 Main Street, Sylvania, OH 43560).

Visitation
Tuesday, January 22, 3 to 8 p.m.

Funeral
Wednesday, January 23, 11 a.m.

A luncheon will immediately follow the funeral at the SDA church building (4909 Sylvania Ave.).

Announcements from January 20 Bulletin

Evening Service Tonight
This evening at 6:30 p.m. David will continue his preaching on discipline in the context of the home. All families—particularly those with young children—are encouraged to attend. Because we are expecting more people to attend, we will be meeting in the Sanctuary. Also, Andrew will be talking about life in the pastors college from the perspective of a teacher.

CTW’s annual skate night is scheduled for Wednesday, January 30 from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. at the Swanton Coliseum . Admission is free. Tai French Baby Shower Cancelled

Ladies, the shower committee wants the women of CTW to know that the baby shower for Tai French scheduled for this coming Saturday is cancelled. Tai is now in labor at Toledo Hospital. Some babies just can't wait to join us! The shower will be rescheduled at a later date so hang on to those gifts:-)

Prayer for our Kid's Clubs Ministries

Announcements from January 6 Bulletin

January Evening Services
During our two January evening services, David will be preaching on discipline in the context of the home. All families—particularly those with young children—are encouraged to attend. On January 6th, we will also hear an update from Michelle Holder about our After School Clubs.

Open House At Dionne Home: January 19
We would like to invite anyone who started attending Christ the Word during 2007 to an open house at our home. Come join us on Saturday, January 19, between 6:30 and 9:00 p.m. for dessert and fellowship. Please call Sarah Dionne (419-531-5817) with any questions.

W.O.W. Women’s Bible Studies
Is the Holy Spirit urging you to be a part of a woman’s Bible study now that a new year is here? If so, we have three places where you can grow in your knowledge of God and His Word. Each of these studies is continuing in 2008 but there is a place for you in any of them. If you are interested please contact the host or a leader of the study.

CTW Baby Shower
All the women of CTW are invited to a baby shower this coming Saturday for Tai French. The shower will be held at 10:00 am at Lisa Dominguez’s home on Salisbury Road. Craig and Tai have registered at Target and Babies R Us.

W.O.W. Cocoa & Conversation

Upcoming Interim Sunday School Classes
Our 3-week Interim Sunday school classes will begin on January 13. In addition to a membership class, we will be offering a class on three women of the Bible. Jordan Daughtery, Matt French and Robin Kepler will each take a week, covering Deborah, Abigail, and Mary. If you are interested in attending the membership class, please let Pastor Dionne know by calling the church office (419.329.1100).
