Our ministries

When Scripture speaks of the church, it uses words like body and family. There is an inferred closeness and love conveyed by them. Though we have a variety of ministries, they all serve the purpose of drawing us together as the family of God, both in our love toward each other, and our love for Him.

Let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near (Hebrews 10:24-25).

small group

Following Jesus will radically change your life. Jesus offers new life and spiritual growth to everyone. The Bible teaches that we grow best through relationships. At Christ the Word Church, we grow together through small groups.

Why Should I Join a Small Group?

As churches grow larger, they must also grow smaller. That is why we consider our small groups to be the heartbeat of our church. They foster environments where deep personal friendships grow, and where the church body truly becomes a family. Small groups will impact your life, the lives of those around you, and even our community as a whole.

What Type of Groups Are There?

Most of our groups are family based. We believe that we can often underestimate the impact that involving children in Bible studies can have, therefore we ecourage whole families to attend groups together. We also have men’s and women’s groups. Groups are broken down by type, location, teacher, and curriculum.

Where Do Small Groups Meet?

Our small groups generally meet in homes. We have many groups throughout the greater Toledo area, so you can be sure to find a group near you. If you’re interested in finding a group, please contact us here!

Is Childcare Provided?

Organized childcare varies depending on which group you attend. Groups which provide childcare will be identified during the signup process.

children’s ministries

Children are very important to us at Christ the Word church and it is our desire to see them build a foundation of knowing God’s word from a young age. Throughout the week, we have age-appropriate ministries designed to reach children and help them apply lessons to their lives at home.

Children’s Sunday School

After their 3rd birthday, children can begin attending Sunday school classes each Sunday from 9:15 to 10:05 AM.

Children’s Church

Children ages 4 through 6 are invited to attend children’s church after worship and before the sermon begins during the 10:30 AM service. In children’s church, the kids have their own worship and story time alongside friends their age.

Awana

Awana is a ministry that meets on Wednesday nights for children ages 4 through 6th grade. At Awana, Bible memorization is emphasized while the kids also have fun with their friends! Awana meets each Wednesday at 6:30 PM from late September through April.

Backyard Bible Club

Backyard Bible Clubs are held each summer in different homes throughout the greater Toledo area. Similar to a Vacation Bible School, kids will get to spend a week learning about the Bible, singing fun songs, doing crafts, and enjoying the summer weather. For information about the dates and locations of this year’s clubs, contact the church office!

Childcare

We have a staffed nursery available during all of our Sunday morning gatherings. During Sunday school, nursery is provided for newborn babies through age 2 and during the worship service, nursery is provided for newborn babies through age 3. Our nursery is staffed with volunteers whose goal is to allow parents to worship while knowing their children are being cared for in a safe and loving environment.

A nursing room is located at the back of the sanctuary for mothers to privately feed their babies while still being able to hear and see the worship service.
