Here are some promises gathered up from Scripture for impossible days. I hope others can stand on these promises too.
In Christ’s love, erika
Today I watched the sunrise.
A new day. A new bundle of mercies. A fresh delivery of grace. YOU are the faithful one! (Lamentations 3:22,23)
I am not…but today I will fight to keep my mind stayed on you. And in that, you promise to keep me in perfect peace.
Isaiah 26 :3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
May I set my face like flint toward the eternal city where there is–even now, a river whose streams make glad the city of God. This is my destination, this is where we who follow Christ are going. Amen.
Psalm 46: 4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
the holy place where the Most High dwells.
When I am tempted to deconstruct or even minimize your power, God, don’t let me look down and analyze each quaking step–for this is when I start to sink. If I take my eyes off of you, I realize I am walking through impossible situations I can’t understand. Yet nothing is impossible with God. (Matthew 19:26)
Let me look full in your wonderful face, fixing my eyes on the author, the perfector, and the finisher of our faith–Jesus Christ the Lord. Lift me up and set my feet upon this Rock that is higher than I. (Psalm 40:2)
When clouds of fear billow…when waves of doubt and guilt roll in…when pangs of regret pierce through–all of them reminding and taunting me that I am not enough and I have not done it well enough, please remind me that though some of that may be true (and some of that is surely lies), I can STILL face tomorrow!
You defeated death and hell for repentant sinners on the cross! And it is all because YOU LIVE that we can face tomorrow with true hope! Remind me how beautiful your grace is in spite of sin. It is scandalously kind. And though I am not enough, YOU ARE and you share your riches with those you call friends. May we offer back to you all of our hearts and lives with holy reverence in return. It is the least we can do for this gift of such a great salvation!
Remind me that faith in Christ weakens the fears of this world. Cause me to rise up above the circumstances of this day. Remind me that you see, you know, and your arm is not too short to save.
And you will be the victor. You already are…most people just don’t realize that yet. But they will, because every knee will bow to you soon enough.
Isaiah 45:23 God says, “By myself I have sworn, my mouth has uttered in all integrity a word that will not be revoked: Before me every knee will bow; by me every tongue will swear.”
Thanks be to our great God!
